‘We’re Training ISIL’: White House Website Corrects Obama’s Speech Blooper

President’s embarrassing error during press briefing amended on official transcript

by Paul Joseph Watson | July 7, 2015

The White House.gov website has corrected an embarrassing mistake made by Barack Obama during his press briefing yesterday about the Islamic State when the President said that U.S. forces were “training ISIL.”

During his speech, Obama uttered the line, “with the additional steps I ordered last month, we’re speeding up training of ISIL forces.”

The White House.gov transcript left in the original quote, but placed the word ‘Iraqi’ in brackets after the word ISIL, correcting Obama’s mistake.

This is by no means the first time that the White House has edited transcripts of Obama’s speeches to put the president in a better light or cover up for his mistakes.

Last October, the White House completely scrubbed a reference Obama made to unpaid pills being stacked up at his home in Chicago, replacing it with the quote, “there’s still junk on my desk, including some — newspapers and all kinds of stuff.”

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest later dubiously claimed that the line about Obama’s bills was left out because the recording equipment malfunctioned.

The White House again edited Obama’s remarks in March when he mistakenly stated, “the bond between the United States and America is unbreakable.”

When the Bush administration caught flak for amending transcripts, they immediately switched to providing the president’s remarks verbatim, which was not an easy decision considering George W. Bush’s notorious “Bushisms”.

However, the Obama White House seems happy to continue amending history instead of providing an accurate record of what the president actually said.

Cops Taser Family Man Again and Again, Up to 27 Times Until He Went Limp and Died

A left-behind family of a man killed by cops has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against San Bernardino County for excessive force

Filming Cops | February 1, 2015

VICTORVILLE — A left-behind family of a man killed by cops has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against San Bernardino County for excessive force.

Dante Parker was electrocuted as many as 27 times as cops shot him repeatedly with a Taser gun, according to the lawsuit.

Dante’s five children and his wife were devastated when he died after the electrical shock.

The incident occurred when Dante dropped his children off at school.

After he left them in school, he went on a bike ride around 4 PM.

He was riding his bike down Luna Rd when he was stopped by Officer Irwin.

Officer Irwin claimed to be responding to a report about a suspicious black male who was attempting to break into houses.

It is presumed that at some point during the questioning, an argument ensued, though the lawsuit does not specify.

At one point during the interaction, Officer Irwin began shooting Dante with a Taser gun, electrocuting his body and causing his muscles to involuntarily tighten and contract.

Other cops quickly arrived at the scene and began Tasing Dante even more, at least 25 times until his body became limp and he fell to the ground.

The cops then hogtied Dante’s limp body as he begged and said “I can’t breathe.”

They then lifted him up while he was hogtied and pushed him into the back seat of a police car, face down.

The inside of the police car was scorching hot as the weather outside reached almost 100 degrees.

Shortly thereafter, Dante’s heart stopped and he was pronounced dead.

The Sheriff Department’s defense is that Dante was “combative” with the officer, causing the officer to “fear for life.”

But Dante’s family believes the police murdered their father.

The family is suing for an unspecified amount in damages.

Shocking History of the CIA

The CIA’s sudden rise to power gave birth to the Military Industrial Complex

Darrin McBreen | Infowars.com | January 15, 2015

In 1933, Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler was approached by a wealthy and secretive group of industrialists and bankers to overthrow President FDR and establish a fascist dictatorship in the United States.

The plan to install a fascist state by force was exposed when Butler blew the whistle and identified the ringleaders in a testimony given to the U.S. House Committee on Un-American Activities.

Senator Prescott Bush went on to help finance Hitler’s rise to power and continued business dealings with the Nazi’s even after America entered the second World war.

At the end of WWII Operation Paperclip was launched by the OSS to smuggle Nazi war criminals into the United States.

The OSS provided the perfect model for the CIA which was established in 1947. The CIA’s sudden rise to power gave birth to the Military Industrial Complex. By the end of Eisenhower’s presidency in 1961 it had become evident that the Federal Govt. could no longer control the agency. The CIA had gone rogue.

Ukraine’s Creditors Grab for the Biggest Pieces of Its Carcass

Ukraine completely torn apart

Eric Zuesse | Washington’s Blog | January 11, 2015

The lifelong Russia-enemy George Soros, and the Russian government itself, are now openly fighting over which parts of the Ukrainian government they’ll be getting in the bankruptcy proceeding that’s already unofficially starting.

Here’s the necessary background, so that the battle now occurring on the part of Ukraine’s creditors can be truthfully and honestly understood:

In December 2013 — just before the overthrow of the Russia-friendly Ukrainian Government of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, by Soros’s American President and major political-campaign investment, Barack Obama — Russia lent Ukraine $3 billion with a contract saying that if Ukraine’s debt would rise above 60% of Ukraine’s GDP, then Russia would be able to demand immediate repayment, and Ukraine agreed to the contract’s condition that Ukraine wouldn’t pay a cent to any other creditor before the entire due-balance on this $3 billion loan is returned to Russia.

Then, on 4 February 2014, Victoria Nuland of Obama’s State Department selected Ukrainian banker Arseniy Yatsenyuk as the person to take control over Ukraine as soon as Obama’s Ukrainian coup would occur, which turned out to be 18 days later, on February 22nd.

Soros’s and Obama’s plan was to privatize as much of the Ukrainian Government as possible in a fire-sale of its assets, such as the valuable gas-fields in the Yuzivska region in Ukraine’s southeast (where the civil war now is), so that Soros and the other investors would be able to get their money back, with interest. Furthermore, inasmuch as only Soros and other insiders would be in on this fire-sale, those same people would also be the bidders; and thus Ukraine’s assets would be sold to them at prices far lower than their actual worth as economic investments for the future. This would turn their prior Ukrainian bonds into super-discounted equity or stock in what now are Ukrainian Government-owned gas-fields, electrical power companies, factories, etc. Furthermore, Western agribusiness giants are now coming into Western Ukraine to buy up Ukrainian farmland, which is among the world’s most-fertile.

The basic privatization-scheme that’s being used here had originally been drawn up by the Harvard economist, and the then-World-Bank chief, Lawrence Summers, and by Harvard’s Economics Department, in the 1990s, as being the way for American insider investors and the U.S.S.R.’s Communist Party insiders, to buy the U.S.S.R.’s assets dirt-cheap, and thereby profit from the dissolution of the U.S.S.R. Those economists oversaw the sell-offs of industrial and other assets throughout many of the 15 nations comprising the Soviet Union, one of which is Ukraine, where the fire-sales are now occurring.

With this as the background, the world’s great newspaper, German Economic News, headlines, on January 10th (as translated by the present writer into English), “Putin v. Soros: Russia Grabs for EU-Billions to Ukraine,” and reports that:

“Just a few days after Angela Merkel cleared the way for a 1.8 billion euro loan from the EU’s tax-money for [Ukrainian Premier] Arseny ‘Yaz’ Yatsenyuk, Russia launched its interest in this money: Moscow is considering to mature a loan it had made to Kiev. Russia makes this move especially against the speculator George Soros.

Ukraine’s ‘Yaz’ Yatsenyuk met with Chancellor Merkel, at the Chancellor’s Office, on Thursday [Jan. 8]. No sooner was the Premier assured by the EU of receiving 1.8 billion euros, than Russia intervenes for the money — Moscow may trigger the state bankruptcy of Ukraine.

Russia could use the EU payments to Ukraine to mature a loan that is due at the end of January, and Kiev cannot use its own resources: Moscow could demand early repayment of a three-billion-dollar loan to Ukraine. Ukraine did not meet a number of conditions [of the loan-agreement], reported the Russian news agency RIA Novosti on Saturday [the 10th], citing government sources. Under these circumstances, Russia was forced to insist on the earlier payment.”

Soros has been lobbying very intensively, after the coup (see all about it by clicking on that link), to persuade the EU, IMF and U.S., to donate enough of Western taxpayers’ money, so as to enable Ukraine to buy enough weapons to win its war against the rebelling portion of Ukraine — the region which had voted 90% for the overthrown former President, Viktor Yanukovych — the region in Ukraine that’s often called “Donbass,” which is in Ukraine’s far east, and which has declared its independence, and which includes much of the Yuzivska gas-field. That region has consistently rejected the Obama-coup-imposed Government; and consequently its gas cannot be used to repay Ukraine’s debts unless Ukraine regains control over that land, where now, almost certainly, even more than 90% of the people reject that Government. (Click here in order to see the transcript of the EU officials’ phone-conversation in which their Foreign-Affairs Minister Catherine Ashton was informed by her own investigator, on 25 February 2014, that Yanukovych had been overthrown in a violent coup, rather than himself perpetrated the bloodshed, and that Ukraine’s current President, Petro Poroshenko, himself acknowledged to the EU’s investigator at the time, that it was a coup — which Ashton hadn’t known of until that moment.)

This is the reason why the IMF informed the coup Government, on 1 May 2014, that unless it could regain control over the rebels’ land, which means eliminate its residents (since they would never accept a Government that is set upon exterminating them), the IMF would stop lending (actually donating, since these ‘loans’ will come at the end of the long line in the bankruptcy proceeding that’s now inevitable) Ukraine more of its Western taxpayers’ money. Without those gas-fields and other assets, even the existing IMF loans to Ukraine wouldn’t likely ever be able to be paid back. New IMF loans surely won’t be.

On 6 January 2015, an aide to Poroshenko announced that, as the news-headline on this story the following day phrased it, “Ukraine Says $450 Million Was Stolen from Its Military in 2014.” This report also noted that, “This amount happens to be precisely the same maximum amount of money that the U.S. Government, in legislation that was supported by more than 98% of U.S. Senators and Representatives and that was signed into law by U.S. President Barack Obama on December 18th, will donate to Ukraine’s military for this year, 2015.” Both Republicans and Democrats in the U.S. Congress overwhelmingly support Obama’s ethnic-cleansing program to get rid of the people in that region of Ukraine and thus endorsed the $450 million donation by U.S. taxpayers. However, if the people we’re hiring to do that job are stealing as much money as we’re donating to them, then people like Soros could end up losing money on their bond-investments. This is the reason why Soros is pressing the European Union to donate lots more of their taxpayers’ money to this war. In the 5 February issue of the New York Review of Books, he says, “all the consequences of helping Ukraine would be positive. By enabling Ukraine to defend itself, Europe would be indirectly also defending itself.” He doesn’t mention that Ukraine’s Government resulted from a coup instead of from the anti-corruption demonstrators in the Maidan, and he portrays Russia’s President Vladimir Putin as being the aggressor for accepting Crimea back into Russia (where it had been during 1783-1954), and not America’s President Barack Obama as being the aggressor for perpetrating the coup and trying to oust Russia’s Black Sea Fleet from Crimea. Soros says:

“Putin’s ambition to recreate a Russian empire has unintentionally helped bring into being a new Ukraine that is opposed to Russia and seeks to become the opposite of the old Ukraine with its endemic corruption and ineffective government. The new Ukraine is led by the cream of civil society: young people, many of whom studied abroad and refused to join either government or business on their return because they found both of them repugnant. Many of them found their place in academic institutions, think tanks, and nongovernmental organizations. A widespread volunteer movement, of unprecedented scope and power unseen in other countries, has helped Ukraine to stand strong against Russian aggression.”

Here is the type of people that Obama’s team actually placed into control over the actually coup-Government. It’s the opposite of “the cream of civil society.” In fact, the very same person who is described there led the organization, called Right Sector, which perpetrated the massacre of the people inside the Trade Unions Building in Odessa on May 2nd, the day after the IMF had said that if the opponents to the new regime weren’t eliminated, IMF loans to Ukraine would stop. And the main financier paying those Right Sector operatives to do that was this man, who recently hired two young people who are closely associated with the Obama White House.

The Russian novelist Zakhar Prilepin was quoted on 3 January 2015 in an interview by RIA Novosti Ukraine, after having travelled through Donbass and spoken with many people there, in order to understand why the separation from Ukraine had occurred. He said:

“I thoroughly questioned local guys what led them to battle, I think Ukraine should know the answers. One of the main points of reference was not even Maidan [the demonstrations, and the extreme violence there that produced the coup in February], which many looked upon with distaste, but suffered, and namely it [the start of the civil war] was the events in Odessa [the May 2nd massacre in Odessa] — and the reaction of thousands of Ukrainian bloggers on this obvious atrocity.”

In other words: Until the massacre in Odessa, residents in Donbass were willing to have some kind of federation arrangement with the post-coup Government; but, after the massacre, they knew that this new Government wanted them dead. That massacre was thus the real start of Ukraine’s civil war.

Soros’s International Renaissance Foundation (or Fund) was one of the three top financial backers of Ukraine’s Hromadske TV, which interviewed (and never criticized) a guest who said:

“Donbass, in general, is not simply a region in a very depressed condition, it has got a whole number of problems, the biggest of which is that it is severely overpopulated with people nobody has any use for. Trust me I know perfectly well what I am saying. If we take, for example, just the Donetsk oblast, there are approximately 4 million inhabitants, at least 1.5 million of which are superfluous. That’s what I mean: we don’t need to [try to] ‘understand’ Donbass, we need to understand Ukrainian national interests. Donbass must be exploited as a resource, which it is. I don’t claim to have a quick solution recipe, but the most important thing that must be done — no matter how cruel it may sound — is that there is a certain category of people that must be exterminated.”

The other main funders of Hromadske TV are the U.S. Government and the Netherlands Government.

Soros’s NYRB article closes with a five-point analysis of where the tens of billions of dollars that will be required in order to exterminate those people should come from. He lists: Balance of Payments Assistance, European Financial Stability Mechanism, Macro-Financial Assistance Facility, European Union, IMF, Extended Fund Facility, European Investment Bank, World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Paris Club.

He says that if they don’t come up with the funds: “Europe will be left on its own to defend itself against Russian aggression, and Europe will have abandoned the values and principles on which the European Union was founded. That would be an irreparable loss.”

On 1 January 2015, he headlined a Project Syndicate oped at Live Mint and other sites, “Europe at War: Supporting the New Ukraine in 2015 and Beyond Is the Most Cost-Effective Investment the EU Could Make,” and he said:

By invading Ukraine in 2014, President Vladimir Putin’s Russia has posed a fundamental challenge to the values and principles on which the European Union (EU) was founded. …

Putin’s regime is based on rule by force, manifested in repression at home and aggression abroad. …

Russia annexed Crimea and established separatist enclaves in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region. …

The West, sadly, has provided embattled Ukraine with only a façade of support. …

All available resources should be put to work in the war effort, even if that requires running up budget deficits. Europe is fortunate that German Chancellor Angela Merkel has behaved as a true European with regard to the threat posed by Russia. …

Helping Ukraine to defend itself against Russian aggression would have a stimulative effect on Ukraine and Europe. The EU’s members are at war—and they need to start acting like it. …

Ukraine needs an immediate cash injection of, say, $20 billion, with a promise of more when needed. …

The “new Ukraine” is resolutely pro-European. …

Supporting the new Ukraine in 2015 and beyond is the most cost-effective investment the EU could make.

His call here was a more detailed presentation of the argument that the Financial Times had made earlier, on 30 November 2014, under the headline, “The Economic Collapse of Ukraine Must Be Halted: The IMF and Western donors need to inject $15bn of emergency funding.” Nobody mentions that those “Western donors” are taxpayers, and that the Ukrainian public aren’t being bailed out but that the Western aristocracy is.

However, Arseniy Yatsenyuk himself said essentially this very thing, on 9 January 2015, under a Ukrainian site’s headline (translated here) “IMF money will be used only for the payment of foreign debts – Yatseniuk,” which presented this quotation from him:

“I would also like to note that the money that we get in the framework of international financial assistance, does not go to finance the state budget deficit, it does not go to the payment of pensions, does not go to the payment of wages. All of this is happening in the first place, to perform our external obligations.”

Those “external obligations” were first stated, on 1 May 2014, by the IMF, when it demanded, basically, that the people in Donbass be exterminated. Western aristocrats want the land that’s there, not the people who live on it. And Western taxpayers are supposed to foot the bill in order to get rid of the residents in Donbass.

This is the deal that’s being proposed — and executed — in Western ‘democracies.’

The Real Threat to Our Liberty Is the Repressive Machinery of Empire

The U.S. heads a global credit-fueled empire

Bill Bonner | Acting Man Blog | January 11, 2015

Practically every day in these Diary entries we mock investors, Democrats, Republicans, teetotalers, terrorists, anti-terrorists, economists… and almost everyone else.

We are equal opportunity mockers – insensitive to race, color, creed or body-fat ratio.

The mocked have only menaced us twice. Once, a journalist went off his head and sent a letter threatening to murder one of our children. We knew the sender personally; we judged him incapable of the act and recommended medical treatment.

The second time was in 2003. When we mocked President G.W. Bush’s attack on Iraq, a dear reader held his own tribunal and found us guilty of treason – a crime, he said, that should be punished by death.

Again, we brushed it off and continued making fun of the warmongers. We mock people. But we do not mock their gods. Who knows? Why take the chance?

Mocking the Gods

This week, mocking gods proved fatal to the staff at Charlie Hebdo, the Paris-based satirical newspaper. And today, all Christendom is in indignant mourning and solemn outrage. Our own hardened, satirical, cynical, ironical heart sinks in sympathy and solidarity.

“Satirist down!” screams the alarm in our own head. Duck! We say a prayer for ourselves… for the victims in Paris… and all the innocents in schools… churches… newspapers… banks… public and private spaces… rich and poor… droned… blown up… or gunned down by self-righteous world improvers all over the planet.

But the planet spins. And the media puts on its own spin. It has picked up the discourse of the very same George W. Bush… and flatters the perps. They are to be pursued not as the murderous clowns they are, but as soldiers.

The threat to our liberty, say our leaders and the press, comes from this tiny army of delusional fanatics, not from the very real armies – TSA, NSA, FBI, CIA, FDA, SEC, etc. – that pretend to suppress them.

A War on Freedom?

And so, we raise our heads again to mock our brethren in the Fourth Estate … their masters … and their customers.”The War on Freedom,” screams the headline in British newspaper the Daily Mail. And all over the blog-TV-newspaper-o-sphere the need to fight this “war.”

French politician Jacques Myard said, “We are at war … the Western nations – like Britain, France and Germany.” People come to think what they must think when they must think it.

The US heads a global credit-fueled empire, a successor to the British, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Holy Roman, Roman, Mongol, Arab, Persian – and all the other empires. So its opinion leaders must lead opinions in a direction that confirms and justifies the imperial narrative. It is a coalition empire at war with barbarians.

France’s president, François Hollande, described the attack as an “act of exceptional barbarity.”

But killing people is hardly exceptional – neither for the empire nor its enemies. It is routine. And great empires follow their well-trodden paths, too, no matter what mockery they encounter. That path leads in a familiar direction – freedom of speech is chilled.

But we know of no instances in which foreign enemies put it on ice. Usually, it is the empire’s own bureaucrats, snoops and protectors who do the chilling. And that cooling is already under way. So sayeth a report published Monday by the international literary association and defender of free speech, PEN American:

“Writers are reluctant to speak about, write about or conduct research on topics that they think may draw government scrutiny.

This has a devastating impact on freedom of information as well: If writers avoid exploring topics for fear of possible retribution, the material available to readers – particularly those seeking to understand the most controversial and challenging issues facing the world today – may be greatly impoverished.”

The US is an empire. Left and right … red states, blue states … black-and-blue states … the First, Second, Third and Fourth estates … must all think like imperialists.

That is, like blockheads.

Opium Cultivation Hits New Record High in Afghanistan

Media ignores CIA’s role as heroin floods US streets

Mikael Thalen | Infowars.com | January 6, 2015

Afghanistan has once again set a new record for opium cultivation despite a constant U.S. military presence for the last thirteen years.

According to a report from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), opium production rose for the fourth consecutive year in 2014.

“The total area under opium poppy cultivation in Afghanistan was estimated to be 224,000 hectares (200,00-250,000) in 2014, which represents a 7% increase from 2013,” the report states.

As cultivation and production continued its upward trend, eradication by government forces plunged across the region.

“A total of 2,692 hectares of verified poppy eradication was carried out by the provincial Governors in 2014, representing a decrease of 63% from 2013 when 7,348 hectares of Governor-led eradication (GLE) was verified by MCN/UNODC,” the report says.

Since the arrival of U.S. forces in 2001, Afghanistan’s prominence in the global drug market has skyrocketed. Statistics from the 2014 World Drug Report state that Afghanistan is now responsible for more than 80 percent of the world’s opium, although many believe the number to be much higher.

Despite claims regarding the fight against Afghanistan’s opium scourge, which is directly linked to America’s “nationwide heroin crisis,” multiple U.S. agencies have been found to be directly linked to its skyrocketing availability.

American officials speaking with the New York Times in 2009 revealed that one of the country’s largest heroin dealers, coincidentally the brother of former Afghan president Hamid Karzai, had received regular payments from the Central Intelligence Agency since the beginning of the war.

American officials speaking with the New York Times in 2009 revealed that one of the country’s largest heroin dealers, coincidentally the brother of former Afghan president Hamid Karzai, had received regular payments from the Central Intelligence Agency since the beginning of the war.

“The financial ties and close working relationship between the intelligence agency and Mr. Karzai raise significant questions about America’s war strategy…” the article states. “The C.I.A.’s practices also suggest that the United States is not doing everything in its power to stamp out the lucrative Afghan drug trade, a major source of revenue for the Taliban.”

A seperate New York Times report from 2008 also detailed multiple instances in which Afghan troops were ordered to release large amounts of confiscated heroin to Karzai.

“Before long, the commander, Habibullah Jan, received a telephone call from Ahmed Wali Karzai, the brother of President Hamid Karzai, asking him to release the vehicle and the drugs,” the article says.

As the United States’ involvement in promoting Afghanistan’s role as global opium kingpin became evident, multiple news outlets, including Fox and ABC, began running white-washed reports arguing that U.S. troops needed to protect opium fields in order to fight the Taliban.

Watch the YouTube doco here.

Although the Obama Administration recently announced the end of the war in Afghanistan, more than 10,000 troops will remain for the foreseeable future as part of a secret extension personally enacted by the President. Continued US control will undoubtedly produce the same results, an explosion of heroin worldwide.

Thatcher confidant raped boy and police covered crime up

Former Conservative minister Sir Peter Morrison allegedly lured 14-year-old to London and sexually abused him in a guesthouse reportedly used by a Westminster paedophile ring

London Telegraph | Bill Gardner | January 4, 2015

One of (ed:  the late) Margaret Thatcher’s closest confidantes raped a teenage boy 30 years ago but escaped justice when Scotland Yard covered up the crime, it has been alleged.

Police are investigating claims that Sir Peter Morrison lured the 14-year-old to London and sexually abused him in a guesthouse reportedly used by a Westminster paedophile ring.

A former Conservative minister, Morrison was first exposed as a serial child abuser in 1998, three years after he died from a heart attack. But the MP for Chester was never charged with any crime during his lifetime.

Speaking to The Telegraph, the alleged victim, now aged 46, said he and his family reported Morrison to Scotland Yard in 1982, hours after the teenager had escaped the MP’s clutches.

Pushing Toward The Final War

Paul Craig Roberts

March 30, 2014

Does Obama realize that he is leading the US and its puppet states to war with Russia and China, or is Obama being manipulated into this disaster by his neoconservative speech writers and government officials? World War 1 (and World War 2) was the result of the ambitions and mistakes of a very small number of people. Only one head of state was actually involved–the President of France.

In The genesis Of The World War, Harry Elmer Barnes shows that World War 1 was the product of 4 or 5 people. Three stand out: Raymond Poincare`, President of France, Sergei Sazonov, Russian Foreign Minister, and Alexander Izvolski, Russian Ambassador to France. Poincare` wanted Alsace-Lorraine from Germany, and the Russians wanted Istanbul and the Bosphorus Strait, which connects the Black Sea to the Mediterranean. They realized that their ambitions required a general European war and worked to produce the desired war.

A Franco-Russian Alliance was formed. This alliance became the vehicle for orchestrating the war. The British government, thanks to the incompetence, stupidity, or whatever of its Foreign Minister, Sir Edward Grey, was pulled into the Franco-Russian Alliance. The war was started by Russia’s mobilization. The German Kaiser, Wilhelm II, was blamed for the war despite the fact that he did everything possible to avoid it.

Barnes’ book was published in 1926. His reward for confronting the corrupt court historians with the truth was to be accused of being paid by Germany to write his history. Eighty-six years later historian Christopher Clark in his book, The Sleepwalkers, comes to essentially the same conclusion as Barnes.

In the history I was taught the war was blamed on Germany for challenging British naval supremacy by building too many battleships. The court historians who gave us this tale helped to set up World War 2.

We are again on the road to World War. One hundred years ago the creation of a world war by a few had to be done under the cover of deception. Germany had to be caught off guard. The British had to be manipulated and, of course, people in all the countries involved had to be propagandized and brainwashed.

Today the drive to war is blatantly obvious. The lies are obvious, and the entire West is participating, both media and governments.

The American puppet, Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper, openly lied on Canadian TV that Russian President Putin had invaded Crimea, threatened Ukraine, and was restarting the Cold War. The host of the TV program sat and nodded his head in agreement with these bald-faced lies.

The script that Washington handed to its Canadian puppet has been handed to all of Washington’s puppets, and everywhere in the West the message is the same. “Putin invaded and annexed Crimea, Putin is determined to rebuild the Soviet Empire, Putin must be stopped.”

I hear from many Canadians who are outraged that their elected government represents Washington and not Canadians, but as bad as Harper is, Obama and Fox “News” are worse.

On March 26 I managed to catch a bit of Fox “news.” Murdoch’s propaganda organ was reporting that Putin was restoring the Soviet era practice of exercise. Fox “news” made this report into a threatening and dangerous gesture toward the West. Fox produced an “expert,” whose name I caught as Eric Steckelbeck or something like that. The “expert” declared that Putin was creating “the Hitler youth,” with a view toward rebuilding the Soviet empire.

The extraordinary transparent lie that Russia sent an army into Ukraine and annexed Crimea is now excepted as fact everywhere in the West, even among critics of US policy toward Russia.

Obama, whose government overthrew the democratically elected government in Ukraine and appointed a stooge government that has threatened the Russian provinces of Ukraine, falsely accuses Putin of “invading and annexing” Crimea.

Obama, or his handlers and programmers, are relying on the total historical ignorance of Western peoples. The ignorance and gullibility of Western peoples allows the American neoconservatives to fashion “news” that controls their minds.

Obama recently declared that Washington’s destruction of Iraq–up to one million killed, four million displaced, infrastructure in ruins, sectarian violence exploding, a country in total ruins–is nowhere near as bad as Russia’s acceptance of Crimean self-determination. US Secretary of State John Kerry actually ordered Putin to prevent the referendum and stop Crimean’s from exercising self-determination.

Obama’s speech on March 26 at the Palace of Fine Arts in Brussels is surreal. It is beyond hypocrisy. Obama says that Western ideals are challenged by self-determination in Crimea. Russia, Obama says, must be punished by the West for permitting Crimean’s to exercise self-determination. The return of a Russian province on its own volition to its mother country where it existed for 200 years is presented by Obama as a dictatorial, anti-democratic act of tyranny.

Here was Obama, whose government has just overthrown the elected, democratic government of Ukraine and substituted stooges chosen by Washington in the place of the elected government, speaking of the hallowed ideal that “people in nations can make their own decisions about their future.” That is exactly what Crimea did, and that is exactly what the US coup in Kiev contravened. In the twisted mind of Obama, self-determination consists of governments imposed by Washington.

Here was Obama, who has shredded the US Constitution, speaking of “individual rights and rule of law.” Where is this rule of law? It is certainly not in Kiev where an elected government was overthrown with force. It is certainly not in the United States where the executive branch has spent the entirety of the new 21st century establishing government above the law. Habeas corpus, due process, the right to open trials and determination of guilt by independent jurors prior to imprisonment and execution, the right to privacy have all been overturned by the Bush/Obama regimes. Torture is against US and international law; yet Washington set up torture prisons all over the globe.

How is it possible that the representative of the war criminal US government can stand before an European audience and speak of

“rule of law,” “individual rights,” “human dignity,” “self-determination,” “freedom,” without the audience breaking out in laughter?

Washington is the government that invaded and destroyed Afghanistan and Iraq on the basis of lies. Washington is the government that financed and organized the overthrow of the Libyan and Honduran governments and that is currently attempting to do the same thing to Syria and Venezuela. Washington is the government that attacks with drones and bombs populations in the sovereign countries of Pakistan and Yemen. Washington is the government that has troops all over Africa. Washington is the government that has surrounded Russia, China, and Iran with military bases. It is this warmongering collection of Washington war criminals that now asserts that it is standing up for international ideals against Russia.

No one applauded Obama’s nonsensical speech. But for Europe to accept such blatant lies from a liar without protest empowers the momentum toward war that Washington is pushing.

Obama demands more NATO troops to be stationed in
Eastern Europe to “contain Russia.

“Obama said that a build-up of military forces on Russia’s borders would reassure Poland and the Baltic states that, as NATO members, they will be protected from Russian aggression. This nonsense is voiced by Obama despite the fact that no one expects Russia to invade Poland or the Baltic countries.

Obama doesn’t say what effect the US/NATO military build-up and numerous war games on Russia’s border will have on Russia. Will the Russian government conclude that Russia is about to be attacked and strike first? The reckless carelessness of Obama is the way wars start.

Declaring that “freedom isn’t free,” Obama is putting pressure on Western Europe to pony up more money for a military build-up to confront Russia.   See here…

The position of the government in Washington and its puppet states (Eastern and Western Europe, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Georgia, Japan) and other allies purchased with bags full of money is that Washington’s violation of international law by torturing people, by invading sovereign countries on totally false pretences, by routinely overthrowing democratically elected governments that do not toe the Washington line is nothing but the “indispensable and exceptional country” bringing “freedom and democracy to the world.” But Russia’s acceptance of the self-determination of Crimean people to return to their home country is “a violation of international law.”

Just what international law has Washington and its puppets not violated?

Obama, whose government in the past few years has bullied Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Lebanon, Iran, Honduras, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Venezuela and is now trying to bully Russia, actually declared that “bigger nations can not simply bully smaller ones.” What does Obama and his speech writers think Washington has been doing for the entirety of the 21st century?

Who can possibly believe that Obama, whose government is responsible for the deaths of people every day in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Yemen, Libya, and Syria, cares a whit about democracy in Ukraine. Obama overthrew the Ukrainian government in order to be able to stuff the country into NATO, throw Russia out of its Black Sea naval base, and put US missile bases in Ukraine on Russia’s border. Obama is angry that his plan didn’t pan out as intended, and he is taking his anger and frustration out on Russia.

As the delusion takes hold in Washington that the US represents idealism standing firmly against Russian aggression, delusion enabled by the presstitute media, the UN General Assembly vote, and Washington’s string of puppet states, self-righteousness rises in Washington’s breast.

With rising self-righteousness will come more demands for punishing Russia, more demonization of Russia and Putin, more lies echoed by the presstitutes and puppets. Ukrainian violence against Russian residents is likely to intensify with the anti-Russian propaganda. Putin could be forced to send in Russian troops to defend Russians.

Why are people so blind that they do not see Obama driving the world to its final war?

Just as Obama dresses up his aggression toward Russia as idealism resisting selfish territorial ambitions, the English, French, and Americans presented their World War 1 “victory” as the triumph of idealism over German and Austrian imperialism and territorial ambitions. But at the Versailles Conference the Bolsheviks (the Tsar’s government failed to gain the Straits and instead lost the country to Lenin) “revealed the existence of the notorious Secret Treaties embodying as sordid a program of territorial pilfering as can be found in the history of diplomacy. It appears that the chief actual motives of the Entente in the World War were the seizure of Constantinople and the Straits for Russia; not only the return of Alsace-Lorraine to France, but the securing of the west bank of the Rhine, which would have involved the seizure of territory historically far longer connected with Germany than Alsace-Lorraine had ever been with France; the rewarding of Italian entry into the War by extensive territory grabbed away from Austria and the Jugo-Slavs; and the sequestering of the German imperial possessions, the acquisition of the German merchant marine and the destruction of the German navy in the interest of increasing the strength of the British Empire” (Barnes, pp. 691-692). The American share of the loot was seized German and Austrian investments in the US.

The secret British, Russian, and French aims of the war were hidden from the public, which was whipped up with fabricated propaganda to support a war whose outcomes were far different from the intentions of those who caused the war. People seem unable to learn from history. We are now witnessing the world again being led down the garden path by lies and propaganda, this time in behalf of American world hegemony.

Corporate Interests Behind Ukraine Putsch

In many ways, the farmland of Ukraine was the backbone of the USSR. Its “fertile black soil” generated over a quarter of the USSR’s agriculture. It exported “substantial quantities” of food to other republics and its farms generated four times the output of “the next-ranking republic.”

On Jan. 12, a reported 50,000 “pro-Western” Ukrainians descended upon Kiev’s Independence Square to protest against the government of President Viktor Yanukovych. Stoked in part by an attack on opposition leader Yuriy Lutsenko, the protest marked the beginning of the end of Yanukovych’s four year-long government.

That same day, the Financial Times reported a major deal for the U.S. based agri-business titan of Cargill.

Despite the turmoil within Ukrainian politics after Yanukovych rejected a major trade deal with the European Union just seven weeks earlier, Cargill was confident enough about the future to fork over $200 million to buy a stake in Ukraine’s UkrLandFarming. According to Financial Times, UkrLandFarming is the world’s eighth-largest land cultivator and second biggest egg producer. And those aren’t the only eggs in Cargill’s increasingly-ample basket.

On Dec. 13, Cargill announced the purchase of a stake in a Black Sea port. Cargill’s port at Novorossiysk — to the east of Russia’s strategically significant and historically important Crimean naval base — gives them a major entry-point to Russian markets and adds them to the list of Big Ag companies investing in ports around the Black Sea, both in Russia and Ukraine.

Cargill has been in Ukraine for over two decades, investing in grain elevators and acquiring a major Ukrainian animal feed company in 2011. And, based on its investment in UkrLandFarming, Cargill was decidedly confident amidst the post-EU deal chaos. It’s a stark juxtaposition to the alarm bells ringing out from the U.S. media, bellicose politicians on Capitol Hill and perplexed policymakers in the White House.

It’s even starker when compared to the anxiety expressed by Morgan Williams, President and CEO of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council — which, according to its website, has been “Promoting U.S.-Ukraine business relations since 1995.” Williams was interviewed by the International Business Times on March 13 and, despite Cargill’s demonstrated willingness to spend, he said, “The instability has forced businesses to just go about their daily business and not make future plans for investment, expansion and hiring more employees.”

Hacked Emails Reveal Vitaly Klischko Worked With West to Undermine Ukraine

February 23, 2014

Anonymous Ukraine is battling the forces in Ukraine that are funded and directed from the West and attempting to overthrow the democratically elected government of the sovereign country of Ukraine. Anonymous Ukraine is operating in what can only now be described as a war zone and the security measures they are forced to take are extreme.

A member of Anonymous Ukraine who wishes to remain anonymous spoke to the Voice of Russia about the operations and the recent release of e-mails between Vitaly Klischko and the Lithuanian Presidential advisor. The e-mails show that Klitschko was intentionally planning to destabilize the country, is being instructed and funded from abroad and has his accounts in Germany.

Greetings citizens of the world. We are Anonymous Ukraine.

The Anonymous Hacktivist Collective worldwide is partially divided on the issue of Ukraine. This has to do with the western mass media propaganda and the conflicting reports that are coming out of the country. This is sad as some Anons are unknowingly supporting the dark forces at work in Ukraine.

Members of Anonymous Ukraine are aware of the internal meddling by the United States, NATO and the European Union into the internal sovereign affairs of Ukraine. Anonymous Ukraine supports peace and the right of the people to self determination. The Bandera Nazis and fascist thugs that are beating and killing police and members of the security services of Ukraine do not represent the will or the wishes of the people of Ukraine. The people of Ukraine do not want European Union integration. The people of Ukraine do not want NATO on their territory. The people of Ukraine voted for President Yanukovich to lead them in fair and just democratic elections. The people of Ukraine plea to the President and to Russia for help in stopping the siege of Ukraine by Nazi thugs and murderous gangs.

The people of Ukraine do not want to see their beloved capital Kiev occupied by Nazi killers and burned to the ground. The people of Ukraine want their independence to be recognized and be allowed to determine their own fate without pressure from US, NATO, European Union. The people of Ukraine want peace and want the Bandera Nazis to be stopped once and for all. Anonymous Ukraine does not like nor support what is happening in Ukraine now. The so-called opposition is trying to tear Ukraine apart. Anonymous Ukraine has released the e-mails of one of the leaders of the so called opposition and will continue to expose the moves by the west to subvert the sovereign country of Ukraine.

The e mails released by Anonymous prove that Vitaly Klichko is a puppet of the West and is being financed through intermediaries in Lithuania. The e mails also prove that Klitchko has bank accounts in Germany and is receiving funding for his coup d’état from the West. We will continue fighting these puppets. The western puppet opposition leaders will hurl Ukraine into chaos. We appeal to the president of our country. The people of Ukraine urge you. President Yanukovich, to restore order and bring calm and stability and disperse the gangs of robbers and Nazis. Anonymous Ukraine will strike at all of the web resources of western hirelings and fascists. Anonymous Ukraine calls for Ukraine to be unified and independent.

The government of Ukraine promoted the country’s integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions despite the reluctance of Ukrainian people. Ukrainian citizens realize that signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union will lead to the collapse of Ukrainian economy in the near future. We express our support to the people of our country. We want Ukrainian government and EU leadership to understand that people of Ukraine do not want their country to become a raw material donor to Europe.

Ukraine must be free. We do not want to be dependent on other countries or organizations. Ukrainian people do not need a speculative Association Agreement with the European Union. Ukraine does not need to be a part of Russia-led Eurasian customs union. We do not need to be servants of NATO. Ukraine does not need European Union. Ukraine does not need NATO. Ukraine should not be anybody’s servant. We stand for independent Ukraine. We declare the continuation of Operation Independence. We will strike at the web resources of countries and organizations that pose a threat to freedom and independence of Ukraine!

Operation Independence continues… Expect us

We are Anonymous Ukraine.

We are Anonymous.

We are Legion.

We Do Not Forgive.

We Do Not Forget.

Expect Us.

Obama and Kerry Jeopardize Peace With Iran

Sheldon Richman

January 31, 2014

Barack Obama and John Kerry should make up their minds: Do they want war or peace with Iran?

We should hope for peace, but Obama and Kerry make optimism difficult.

Ideally, the Obama administration would simply exit the Middle East, taking all its military and economic aid with it. The U.S. government cannot micromanage events there, especially when it is no honest, neutral broker. Shamefully, it is firmly in the Israeli camp against the Palestinians (who, let us remember, are the occupied, not the occupiers), and generally in the Sunni Muslim camp against the Shi’ites, led by Iran. (Iraq is the anomaly.)

"White dining hall" at the Florida Industrial School for Boys.

“White dining hall” at the Florida Industrial School for Boys.

This week, the remains of fifty-five bodies were found in unmarked graves on the grounds of the former Florida School for Boys, in the panhandle town of Marianna.

The reformatory school, which was operated by the state of Florida, and which closed in 2011, was notorious for its mistreatment of its students. In 1968, Florida’s governor at the time, Claude Kirk, said of the school, “Somebody should have blown the whistle a long time ago.”

There have long been allegations of beatings, torture, and sexual abuse there; it now appears that some students were killed. The total number of bodies buried at the school has not been determined, but the leader of the exhumation effort, the forensic anthropologist Erin Kimmerle, has said that it may exceed a hundred.

Some of the children died natural deaths, but the sheer number of bodies suggests that there may have been many killings, a possibility buttressed by eyewitness accounts. Yet Florida’s prosecutors have yet to file a single criminal charge, or even open a criminal investigation. To pass over crimes of this magnitude without investigation seems the very definition of injustice.

There is no statute of limitations for murder and other crimes causing death, which means that there is no legal bar to bringing charges. In Florida, all capital cases have long had no statute of limitations, and when these crimes were allegedly committed forcible rape was punishable by death.

But there are challenges to prosecuting old crimes: given how much time has passed, it may be difficult to determine who was responsible for the killings, and many of the suspects, meanwhile, have already died, including the school’s longtime superintendent, Lenox Williams, who died in 2010.

Some are still alive, including Troy Tidwell, an instructor at the school, who was accused of abuse in a class-action lawsuit filed by more than two hundred former students in 2009. (Tidwell denies the accusations, and the case was dismissed after a judge ruled that the statute of limitations on the charges had run out.)

Protester: Cops Laughed About Having License to Kill

“There’s a pack of 12 cops waiting to
smash your #&*@#% faces in”

Paul Joseph Watson

January 30, 2014

A Fullerton resident who was arrested after protesting the acquittal of officers involved in the death of Kelly Thomas said police laughed and joked about having a license to kill while asserting,…

“There’s a pack of 12 cops waiting to smash your #&*@#% faces in.”

30-year-old Adam Walder was thrown into a paddy wagon after riot cops ordered demonstrators to disperse during a protest against the ‘not guilty’ verdict which saw Officer Manuel Ramos and Officer Jay Cicinelli acquitted on all charges of manslaughter and murder.

Kelly Thomas, a mentally disabled homeless man, was beaten, tasered, suffocated and pistol whipped as he lay on a street corner being sat on by no less than six police officers during an incident in July 2011. During the disturbing video of the beating, Thomas can be heard pleading for his father, moaning, “Daddy, daddy, they are killing me,” as officers prolong the assault.

Before the assault, Ramos told Thomas, “Do you see my fists?” They’re getting ready to fuck you up.”

According to the jury in the case, Thomas just coincidentally chose to die of an undiagnosed heart condition in hospital five days after the savage beating having never regained consciousness.

Describing the incident that occurred during the subsequent protest, Walder said he was grabbed by cops after refusing to obey the dispersal order quickly enough and thrown into a police van with several other demonstrators.

While being transported to jail, Walder said the police were laughing and grinning. During the journey, one of the cops leaned over to the protesters and with “malice in his voice” said, “There’s a pack of 12 cops waiting to smash your fucking faces in.”

Another officer then immediately remarked, “And I’ve got two words for all of you, ‘NOT GUILTY,’” prompting laughter amongst all the other cops.

This was clearly a reference to the acquittal of the two officers involved in the Thomas beating. The cops were literally laughing and chuckling about the fact that they can get away with the murder of innocent people.

As Filming Cops highlights, the exchange brings to mind previous incidents where cops have laughed and joked about deliberately hurting peaceful protesters, like the example below where Miami police shot a woman in the head with a rubber bullet and then callously celebrated the fact in front of news cameras.

Clinton or Bush for President in 2016? Which Puppet would you choose??

Interconnected political dynasties set
to rule indefinitely

Kurt Nimmo

January 30, 2014

Hillary Clinton has yet to announce she will run for president. Despite this void a whopping 73 percent of Democrats say they would vote for Clinton if she ran today, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll conducted last week.

Watch the filed News report on YouTube here

“Hillary Rodham Clinton’s 61-point edge over Joe Biden in new Washington Post-ABC News polling makes her the single biggest frontrunner for a Democratic presidential nomination in the history of the poll, an affirmation of the conventional wisdom that the nomination is hers for the taking,” the Post reports today.

If the projections hold up Clinton will swamp all contenders and take the Democrat primary in a landslide.

The corporate media over the last few weeks has piled plaudits on the former Secretary of State. Meanwhile, two Democrat super PACs, Priorities USA Action and Ready for Hillary, are preparing the ground in New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada, three early primary states. Iowa is also a target.

Meanwhile, a Public Policy Polling survey shows Mike Huckabee at the front of the Republican pack following his “Uncle Sugar” comments.

“He’s at 16% to 14% for Jeb Bush, 13% for Chris Christie, 11% for Rand Paul, 8% each for Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Paul Ryan, 6% for Scott Walker, and 5% for Bobby Jindal,” the Public Policy Polling website reports.

Although it appears the Democrat ticket is set in stone, things will undoubtedly change on the Republican side. If Jeb Bush edges out Huckabee, it will be a race to the finish between two dynasties that have dominated American politics for decades – and may continue to do so for decades to come.

Both George Prescott Bush, the eldest son of Jeb Bush, and Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of the Clintons, are plotting their political futures.

As demographics change and political correctness settles in, we can expect the ruling elite to fully exploit Bush’s Latino heritage and Clinton’s gender.

The Left “hates big corporations”: enter Eric Holder

Jon Rappoport

January 30, 2014

Veteran reporter, Russell Mokhiber, who edits the Corporate Crime Reporter, lays it out in his article, “Holder the Hypocrite.”

Corrupt Attorney General Eric Holder has been involved in no less than 16 scandals.

Corrupt Attorney General Eric Holder has been involved in no less than 16 scandals.

“…[US Attorney General] Holder has perfected the government’s practice of offering deferred and non prosecution agreements to major corporations to settle major corporate crime cases.

“Under a deferred prosecution agreement, the corporation is charged with a crime, but if the company abides by the agreement for a period of years, then the government drops the criminal charges”.

“Under a non prosecution agreement, the government just collects a fine. There is no criminal charge. There is no admission of wrongdoing”.

“Since taking office in February 2009, Holder has dished out deferred and non prosecution agreements to more than 100 large publicly held corporations, including JPMorgan Chase (Madoff Ponzi scheme), Archer Daniels Midland(foreign bribery), Diebold (foreign bribery), UBS (interest rate manipulation),HSBC (money laundering), Pfizer (foreign bribery), Wachovia (money laundering), Tyson Foods (foreign bribery), Barclays Bank (Trading with the Enemies Act), Deutsche Bank (tax shelter fraud).”

That’s a tidy sample of Eric Holder’s work.

Of course, failing to prosecute Monsanto for fraud, criminal intimidation, poisoning the food supply, and other acts should rank high on the list as well.

But the Left hates big corporations, doesn’t it? Well, Virginia, ha-ha, that’s just a convenient myth. The Left loves and promotes big government, so it needs to accuse somebody of criminal behavior. Its favorite fairy-tale target? Corporations.

As you can see, that’s just a feel-good con. It attracts liberals and other Lefties, but only on the level of a slogan.

Politicians on both the Left and Right love big corporations.

“I’ll say love and you say hate, and we’ll argue and create the illusion of difference”.

Throw in pharmaceutical companies, military contractors, security corporations, banks, media giants…they’re all gladly served by the Left and the Right.

Unelected bureaucrats play a major role in carrying water for political administrations of both major Parties. The FDA, for example, enables Big Pharma and its array of killer drugs, no matter whether Democrats or Republicans are ruling the White House and the Congress.

Since 2000, it’s been known that medical drugs kill 106,000 Americans a year (a conservative estimate—see Dr. Barbara Starfield, JAMA, July 26, 2000, “Is US health really the best in the world?”)

Yet neither political party has forced a deep investigation of the FDA, which routinely certifies those drugs as safe and effective. And no Attorney General has lifted a finger to bring criminal charges against FDA employees or pharmaceutical companies.

Yet the myth lives on. Republicans hate big government and Democrats hate big corporations.

It’s a Disney production with politicians playing cartoon roles.

NYT improperly redacted latest NSA leak doc, revealing name of agent and a target

RT January 29, 2014

As part of its latest reporting on leaked NSA documents, the New York Times did not properly redact a PDF that listed the name of a National Security Agency employee who prepared the document as well as a target of the program.

The New York Times burns another source.

The Times published Monday the latest revelation stemming from leaks supplied by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden, that US spy agency and its UK cohort, GCHQ, have the ability to harvest sensitive personal data from phone apps that transmit users’ data across the web, such as the extremely popular Angry Birds game.

As part of the publication, the newspaper uploaded an internal presentation document – part of the Snowden trove – that outlined the program’s operations. Though the Times did attempt to redact the name of the NSA agent who prepared the 2010 document, the name of an exemplary target of the program – Al-Qaeda’s branch in Mosul, Iraq – and information of what can be gathered about location of targets, it did not do so properly.

Cryptography website Cryptome realized that the three redactions could be seen by highlighting, copying and pasting the text. Cryptome then issued two tweets alerting followers to its discovery. The tweets were subsequently deleted, presumably to avoid repeating the disclosure.

The Daily Banter’s Bob Cesca, an opponent of Snowden’s release of NSA disclosures, soon noticed Cryptome’s Twitter declarations and excoriated all involved since the “identity of an NSA agent is out there in public view within the same document in which a target of this program is named.”

“All of this is due to the incompetence of whoever failed to properly redact the pdf before publishing it for the world to see – as well as for the aforementioned cryptography site to nab and republish it,’” he wrote, adding this “was bound to happen at some point,” based on how Snowden distributed the “stolen” files.

TechDirt’s Tim Cushing downplayed the revelations, writing, “Al Qaeda has been the focus of counterterrorism efforts since before the 9/11 attacks and the revelation that the NSA is targeting mobile networks in Mosul shouldn’t come as a shock to anybody, least of all Al Qaeda members.”

Cushing also wrote the exposed name of an NSA agent is hardly reason to condemn Snowden’s actions, even though the Times erred in improperly redacting the document.

“Cesca somehow feels the privacy of a single NSA agent trumps the public’s interest in infringements on their own privacy — not just here in the US but all over the world.”

The NSA employee exposed in the document did not return phone or email messages, the AP reported Tuesday. A spokesman for the Director of National Intelligence said the agency requested the redaction. A Times spokeswoman said the ultimately unredacted information was a production error, which the paper has since removed.

Former Bush Officials Knock RNC Call to End NSA Surveillance

Jack Kenny The New American January 29, 2014

Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Ks.) supports unconstitutional spying.

Seven former officials in the George W. Bush administration and a Republican member of the House Intelligence Committee issued a sharp rebuke to the Republican National Committee Saturday over the RNC’s passage of a resolution calling for an end of the “blanket surveillance” of phone calls and electronic communications records by the National Security Agency.  Pictured – Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Ks.) supports unconstitutional spying.

Delegates in Friday’s session of the committee’s winter meeting adopted by voice vote the “Resolution to Renounce the National Security Agency’s Surveillance Program,” calling on Republicans to endorse amendments to the PATRIOT Act and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act “to make it clear that blanket surveillance of the Internet activity, phone records and correspondence — electronic, physical, and otherwise — of any person residing in the U.S. is prohibited by law and that violations can be reviewed in adversarial proceedings before a public court.”

Rep. Mike Pompeo, a Republican from Kansas who serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and seven former national security and Justice Department officials sent a letter to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus (shown) the next day, blasting the resolution for alleged factual errors and charging that the statement “threatens to do great damage to the security of the nation.”

Larry Fink: There Is Way Too Much Optimism In Financial Markets

Zero Hedge
January 26, 2014

What a difference half a year makes. It seems like it was yesterday when Blackrock head Larry Fink, when discussing the future of capital markets with the now defunct money honey, uttered these infamous words about any and all possible risks: “it doesn’t matter.”

Larry Fink and Robert S. Kapito founded the BlackRock investment management firm in 1988. Credit: Americasroof via Wiki

Larry Fink and Robert S. Kapito founded the BlackRock investment management firm in 1988. Suddenly, it matters.
Speaking in Davos, Fink warned there is ‘way too much optimism’ in financial markets as he predicted repeats of the market turmoil that roiled investors this week.

As Bloomberg reports, Fink warned a Davos panel that “the experience of the marketplace this past week is going to be indicative of this entire year… We’re going to be in a world of much greater volatility.”

Some other notable sound bites:

Fink’s outlook challenged the relatively upbeat tone struck by others during the four-day gathering in the Swiss Alps, which began after the International Monetary Fund predicted the strongest world economic expansion since 2011. The meetings of the past seven years were clouded by jitters about financial crisis in the U.S. and Europe.

While Fink agreed “the overall trend is going to be fine,” he predicted “quite a bit of disruption” and said the onus was now on governments to work to improve economies.

“That troubles me, as there has been great consistency of dragging their feet by politicians,” he said. “The marketplace has been rather encouraged by good, consistent monetary policy across the world.” “It would be very abnormal if we didn’t have consolidating moves in the assets that have gone up so much,” he said.

And while it appears lost on Fink that the only reason politicians have been dragging their feet is precisely due to central banker money printing policies which have allowed elected representative to do absolutely nothing while reaping the benefits of rising or stable popularity ratings thanks to all time stock market highs, at least we know how the world’s largest asset manager is positioned.

That said, it would be very ironic if the Davos billionaires really did follow through on their promise of eliminating inequality… by destroying the financial wealth of the uber-wealthy.
